Amarillo Sky- How I will always think of my dad.

He gets up before the dawn;Packs a lunch an' a thermos full of coffee. It's another day in the dusty haze; Those burnin' rays are wearin' down his body. The diesels worth the price of gold; It's the cheapest grain he's ever sold,But he's still holdin' on.He just takes the tractor another round,An' pulls the plow across the ground,And sends up another prayer. He says: "Lord, I never complain, I never ask: 'Why?'"Please don't let my dreams run dry,"Underneath, underneath this Amarillo Sky."That hail storm back in '83,Sure did take a toll on his family. But he stayed strong and carried on,Just like his Dad and Granddad did before him.On his knees every night,He prays: "Please let my crops and children grow,"'Cause that's all he's ever known. He just takes the tractor another round,An' pulls the plow across the ground,And sends up another prayer. He says: "Lord, I never complain, I never ask: 'Why?'"Please don't let my dreams run dry,"Underneath, underneath this Amarillo Sky."[Instrumental Break]An' he takes the tractor another round. (Another round.)Another round. (Another round.)Another round. An' he takes the tractor another round, another round. He says: "I never complain, I never ask: 'Why?'"Please don't let my dreams run dry,"Underneath, underneath this Amarillo Sky."Underneath this Amarillo Sky."

Sex and The City goes to Charleston

My sister, my best friend and I try to take a yearly Birthday trip together...Their birthday's are both on Jan. 28 and mine is Feb. 1. This year's destination is Charleston, SC. http://www.charlestoncvb.com/

I like to call in the Sex and The City reunion, because every time we three get together, there is always, always, always, episodes of SATC to be watched. Here is the history of Sex and The City and how it's united the three of us... I really don't know when or how we all got started watching the show, we just did... and Georgia Florida 2003- We granted Brogan's in St. Simons the pleasure of the three of us dressed up as Carrie, Miranda, and Samantha/Charlotte!! Just made me think of Dani wearing the blonde wig, if will post a picture up later when I find it and scan it in!! Then, when Rach got married, we threw her a SATC theme bachelorette party, don't think it wasn't classy....It was all class....Gift bags were of Vera Wang, Burberry, Dolce and Gabanna, Prada....okay they were made to look like the shopping bags of the brand! We've given each other season of SATC as gifts. When the movie came out in May, we all went (unfortunately not together) but we stayed up until Dani got out of the late movie in ATL, and discussed our thoughts on it.

Well, as everyone said about the movie..."The girls are back together!" Well this weekend, "THE GIRLS ARE BACK TOGETHER!!" It started in Athens, and now we come from Atlanta, Tifton, and Charlotte, and don't get together nearly as often as we would like.

“Maybe mistakes are what make our fate... without them what would shape our lives? Maybe if we had never veered off course we wouldn't fall in love, have babies, or be who we are. After all, things change, so do cities, people come into your life and they go. But it's comforting to know that the ones you love are always in your heart... and if you're very lucky, a plane ride away” ~Carrie Bradshaw

See ya'll in Chucktown!!

I like to find the irony...

Pomp and Circumstance....that's what coming into presidency is all about....or should it be a thing in the past.
When times are tough, you cut back. America has cut back: cut back spending, jobs, and so much more. Shouldn't the inauguration have been reduced. Couldn't it have been a swearing in and maybe a dinner...why were there 10 balls, why were their so many concerts, why did people have to pay out of the ass load to see the festivities....If Obama is about change, that should have been the first thing he should have changed.

The word Change....it was shoved up our noses, down our throats, and shouted in our ears throughout the election campaigns. Change, Change, Change...if that's your motto start with it.

While the new Prez and first lady were dancing the night away...millions of Americans were scanning monster.com, careerbuilder.com, and the newspaper classifieds because they somehow have to pay the rent, feed their families, and keep warm clothes on their backs. I don't want anyone to say that if it was McCain I would feel differently, I wouldn't...if that much hoopla and spending was put into it if he had been elected I would feel the same way.

And in the same regards, everyone that voted Obama in the white house, is saying that we should get behind our president and support him, no matter what. That is just hypocrisy, because why didn't they support Bush, why did the same people that are saying we should support Obama because he is our president, not support our former President. It's just appalling, that people are so narrow minded. How about this....how about I support Obama, the way everyone that didn't like Bush supported him. That's what I am going to do!! I dare someone to find a leg to stand on to argue about it!

I am not going to support Obama until he proves that he deserves my support, and I would ask politely for anyone not to suggest otherwise!

Fashion Smashion- It's Runway season

We all know what award season means...."First, I'd like to thank the Hollywood Foreign Press, blah blah blah" Are you kididng me, no one watches it for the speeches....we watch it for the dresses, jewlry, shoes....FASHION!!

I don't have the street cred, nor the plastic surgery, that Joan and Melissa Rivers do, but here is my lists: Best, Worst, and the one that let me down.

BEST DRESSED (from like to obsessed)
#5- Anne Hathaway

Wearing Giorgio Armani Prive, she looked "stunning". It's old school glamour, my only issue was that her skin was almost see through. I am glad that she is taking care of her skin, but a "pre wedding (awards) glow" would be nice. The look gets a bit goth with someone so pale in something so dark. But kudos to her! Great Look

#4- Eva Mendes

Wearing Christian Dior, she looked tropical. I loved the color with the white. Most celebs choose diamonds, but white needs color. Her neck pops with the turquoise! Love Love Love the necklace. The jury is still out on the bow/ hanging thing on the front, but I am leaning more toward liking it.

#3- Rumer Willis

Wearing Reem Arca (Don't know who that is, but I am intrigued). She looked her age, and actually looked a bit more demi than bruce. She is definitely aging well and growing out of her "Potato Head" as Perez refers to her. Just all around great dress, the color, the cut, the way the fabric drapes and weaves....FABulous!! The belt addition is very Carrie Bradshaw...."We likey"

#2- Laura Linney

Wearing Elie Saab, most people don't pull off pale yellow, but she did it, and did it well. I love this dress, I can't wear yellow well, can you make it in a color for me!! The draping is spectacular, the beaded belt, wowza! It's really a great look...I wanted to put her in a three way tie for first. I do love this. At least she didn't get caught in the bathroom when she won her award!!

#1(two way tie)-Amy Adams

Wearing Oscar de la Renta, she looks absolutely amazing. Hey, you may say I am being partial to her since she's a red head, but no, the dress is breathtaking. And she knows....RED HEAD's wear green well....the green earrings are fab....They give the black color. She took the #1 spot because of the Hollywood Glam and very elegant look!!

#1(two way tie)- Maggie Gyllenhaal

Wearing Lanvin, Maggie looked her age, and took a risk, a risk that paid off. Sometimes you win when you gamble, other's didn't win that night in their fashion gambling game, but Maggie did. I love the shape, the shoulder, the print, the belt....the whole look just pulled together in a very fashion forward way. She took the #1 spot because of creativeness and not-so-typical look.

HATS off to Amy and Maggie!!

Worst Dressed (from bad to repulsive)
#5- Heidi Klum

Wearing Galanos, Heidi didn't pull it off. If she were 7 months pregnant, then this would have been okay, but she's not. This look wasn't completely terrible, but I did not accept this dress/shoes with open arms. Heidi is usually in the best dressed category, but you can't always be on top, sometimes you are simply "ouut"

#4- Megan Fox

Wearing Ralph Lauren, this just looked very 1999 prom. To much beading, to many random bangles, and to whorishly tight. She has a great figure, but it looked to "Girl's next door" instead of movie star. Come on, you could see Kendra wearing this dress!! And really, Angelina looks trashy with her tattoos also.

#3- Jenna Fischer

Wearing Zuhair Murad, looked a little beach wedding bridesmaid, than red carpet glam. The print was to much. I liked the dress, but not for a red carpet event. As I was discussing fashion gambling, she lost. Yes, props for taking a chance, but you can't always win...

#2- Jennifer Lopez

Wearing (what little there is) of Marchesa, JLo just wasn't up to par. Pre babies, she was able to rock a risque green Versace number, but post babies, she needed to cover up a little more. In some pictures you can see some lower back lumps hanging over the back of the dress. Not a good look. She would have looked so much better, had she covered up more. Have you never learned, pick one thing to show off, not both. Plunging to the belly button neckline and Absolutely no back (which went out of style in 2000), was way to much skin.

#1- Renee Zellweger

Wearing Carolina Herrera, went wrong, really wrong. The dress, the hair, I kind of thought I was looking at Courtney Love....to be completely honest. She looked a hot mess!! Nothing more than saying Hot mess and looking at the picture will do!!

Disappointed Me
Blake Lively

Gossip girl fashionista, looks a little high school musical prom whore. The dress was way to tight, and sat way low on the chest. I mean more power to you for wanting to show off your "new" assets, but it looked a little trampy. She should have pulled something from Serena Gossip Girl closet, it would have been classier and just right for the red carpet...Sorry S....XOXO...Gossip Girl
Hats off for those that got it right, and for those that didn't learn from your mistakes and try again at the next red carpet event...I think the SAG awards are coming up soon...

Garbage....Adam Sandler, George Clooney, and Brad Pitt

I believe that in one weekend, I engaged in watching two of the worst movies in HISTORY. Yes, they finally took the crown from Ground Hog day, which has been holding that title since I saw it when I was only 11 years old. It only took 15 years to find a movie equally, if not worse, than Ground Hog Day. Really you can show the same day over, and over, and over, and over again, it's not getting any better....SHOOT ME!

New Year's Day. We ate our ham, black eyed peas, and Green Beans (substituted for turnip greens-since we didn't have any) I think that is what started my demise and fortune in renting quality movies, because first up....Don't Mess with the Zohan. I don't really know what to say. It was unbearable to watch, so much in fact that I fell asleep after 30 minutes into it. The first 30 minutes might have been more enjoyable had I been blindfolded and had someone slowly pull out my finger and toe nails. I am not kididng. The movie is centered around a Israeli solider who fakes his death so he can come to NYC to be a hair stylist. No wait for the clincher...he's not gay(even though he is more flamboyant than "Just Jack" at a Cher concert) and likes to bang old ladies. That's where I draw the line....he styles their hair, then takes them to the storage closet to "keep them coming back" It was disgusting, disturbing, and written by someone who was obviously owing someone a screenplay, and since they hadn't written anything, decided to "live" the lyrics to Afroman's "Because I got high" all while writing a screenplay.
Adam Sandler and Company...I expect more from you....If you don't have anything good to produce...don't produce anything at all.
The Lucky part about the whole movie, is that we only spent $1 at Redbox, had I rented it from Blockbuster, you bet your ass I would have been demanding a refund on that hunk of junk!

Next up...I rented two movies during the weekend after New Year's, the first one being a Season of Family Guy, (can't ever go wrong with that-best animated show on TV-Stewie's my favorite). Where I went wrong.....thinking that George Clooney and Brad Pitt together would be alot like the Ocean's movies. That's the most whacked out thought I have ever had!

There was no real plot, excpet that George Clooney was pretty much a "David Duchovny-real life and on the show Californication." It's suppose to be that they gym retards find a CD containing the information of an ex CIA guy's (but one that isn't very high up, and pretty much useless) memoirs of his time in the CIA. He quit and has nothing else to do. But the gym freaks decide to Black mail him, the lady from the gym obviously had gastic bypass and is lumpy from it and wants plastic surgery, and hopes that blackmailing this guy, she will be able to afford it. Okay I am bored with talking about it, it really was a disaster!

After the movie was over, all I could think was that I just wasted too much time in my life, that I will never get back. The movie would be more appropriately named "Burn before Watching".

Save your money, wether it be a $1 from Redbox or $5 from BlockBuster, it's a waste of time and money. It's obvious that Mr. Pitt took this role so he could film in Washington D.C. and have some sanity time away from "Lips" and their brood of kids, why else would an A-list actor take this role. George Clooney, not sure why he did either, the cocktail waitress girlfriend must have still been living with him at this point, so going on location would help remove the thoughts of the fact that "Vegas didn't stay in Vegas," DUDE-don't you know you don't bring Vegas home with you, "What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas"!!!

Point of today's Blog- SAVE FELLOW American's from ruining a perfectly good evening with renting either of these two movies!! SAVE YOURSELF!!
